Recycling requirements for covered businesses and multifamily properties.
California’s mandatory commercial recycling program covers businesses and public entities generating at least four cubic yards of commercial solid waste per week, and multifamily properties with five or more units.
Covered properties must arrange for recycling. Depending on local rules, options can include service-provider collection, pickup of recyclable material or self-hauling. Cities may set additional requirements or different local thresholds.
Start with the property’s regular waste provider or city recycling coordinator. Confirm accepted materials, container arrangements and how staff or tenants will participate.
A construction or cleanout dumpster serves a separate project need. Ask 365 about accepted debris and recycling records for that work. A rental does not automatically replace the property’s ongoing recycling service.
