Organics collection

Businesses and multifamily properties generally must participate in their local organics program or use an allowed self-hauling arrangement, subject to applicable waivers.

Business responsibilities include suitable collection containers, correct labels or colors, sorting education and contamination checks. Confirm the collection system and approved service provider with the city where the property is located.

Edible-food recovery

Certain food-generating businesses also have edible-food recovery duties. The applicable requirements depend on the business category; check the local program rather than assuming the same rules apply to every property.

Separate project debris

Construction waste has its own material and permit requirements. Identify the debris and required records before ordering a 365 dumpster. Routine food-waste and organics collection belongs with the property’s authorized program.
